Instagram Launched New Map Search Tool to Enlarge Business Discovery.

September 14, In Australia and New Zealand, Instagram launched a live test of a new feature named "Map Search," which allows users to find businesses and places of interest on the in-app map and look up information on each company mentioned, as well as make public postings about that location.

Instagram took down Location Stories in October of last year, ostensibly as part of the platform's temporary pre-election adjustments in the United States, which were intended to prevent the spread of false information.

After a ten-month hiatus, it appeared that they were gone forever, but now, in this new version of the Instagram Map, you can explore Stories by location again, which has been a popular request among users.

Users that have access to the new feature are requested to press the map symbol in the top right corner of the Discover page, as shown above. This leads to the new Map Search experience, which focuses on cafés and restaurants in particular, but also includes stores, entertainment venues, and more.

Instagram said in a statement that Map Search is the latest in a series of tools aimed at helping small companies, after the debut of the "Support Small Business" sticker.

How it works

You'll see a new map icon under Explore the next time you open the Instagram app (top-right, next to the search bar). When you click that button, you'll be sent to Map Search.

You may easily explore the places mentioned under Popular Nearby from here (clickable categories like Restaurants, Cafe’s, Sights, and Parks are listed here).

Alternatively, you may utilize the in-feature search button to seek hashtags that are relevant to your requirements, such as #takeaway, to discover what popular alternatives are available in your area.

That'll certainly sure stimulate additional curiosity in the forthcoming upgrade. There's no indication on when the option will be fully implemented, but it will allegedly be tried in other locations over time.
